In­dia House Golf tour­na­ment ends

The In­dia House Golf Tour­na­ment 2014 or­ga­nized at the In­dia House Golf Course in Thimphu over a pe­riod of five days from 12th to 16th Novem­ber ended. The tour­na­ment com­mem­o­rated the aus­pi­cious oc­ca­sion of the Birth An­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. A record num­bers of one hun­dred and fifty eight golfers par­ti­pated in the tourna- ment. Sixty seven golfers made it to the fi­nals played on 15th and 16th Novem­ber.

The prize dis­tri­bu­tion cer­e­mony which was held on 17th Novem­ber was graced by Her Royal High­ness Ashi Chimi Yang­zom Wangchuck and Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay. Other dig­ni­taries who at­tended the func­tion in­cluded Na­tional Coun­cil Chair­per­son Dasho ( Dr) Sonam Kinga, Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter Ly­onpo Mingbo Dukpa, Fi­nance Min­is­ter Ly­onpo Nam­gay Dorji, se­nior con­sti­tu­tional and gov­ern­ment func­tionar­ies.

His Ex­cel­lency Gu­atam Bam­bawale , the In­dian Am­bas­sador to Bhutan and the Pa­tron of In­dia House Golf Club ad­dressed the au­gust gath­er­ing and spoke of the im­por­tance of In­dia House Golf Tour­na­ment in Bhutan’s golf­ing cal­en­dar. He ex­pressed the hope that the tour­na­ment would be even more suc­cess­ful in the years to come.

Ad­dress­ing the guests, Sec­re­tary of In­dia House Golf Club and Coun­sel­lor Subrata Das ap­pre­ci­ated the en­thu­si­as­tic re­sponse from Bhutan’s golf­ing com­mu­nity and com­mended the golfers on their sport­ing spirit. He thanked the spon­sors Druk PNB, Jaiprakash As­so­ciates, PHPA, MHPA, WAPCOS In­dia Ltd., Ho­tel Taj Tashi, BHEL, HCC Ltd., Druk Air, NIIT and Gam­mon In­dia for their con­tri­bu­tion to the sport of golf in Bhutan by sup­port­ing the Tour­na­ment.

Lt. Col Khitu Dukpa of Royal Body Guards was the Cham­pion (Net Win­ner) win­ning a cash prize of Nu. 2 lakhs and the gross cat­e­gory was won by Raju Biswa who re­ceived a prize money of Nu. 1 lakh. Ly­onpo Dago Tsh­er­ing was the se­nior most con­tes­tants; Karan Mehra was the win­ner in the ju­nior cat­e­gory and ten year old Akhil Singh the youngest par­tic­i­pant.
