18th SAARC summit to be held in Kathmandu
The Eighteen summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation ( SAARC) will be held from 26th to 27th November 2014 in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. The member countries for SAARC countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay will lead the Bhutanese delegation which will include Lyonpo Rinzin Dorji, Foreign Minister , Lyompo D.N. Dhungyel , Minister for Information and Communications, Yeshey Dorji Foreign Secretary and other senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Eighteen SAARC submit will be preceded by the Thirty – Sixth session of the SAARC council of Ministers ( SMC) on 25th November , the Forty – First Session of the SAARC standing committee ( SSC) on the 23-24 November and the Forty – Ninth session of the programming Committee ( PC) on the 22 November 2014.
The nine observer’s countries of Australia, the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mauritius, the Union of Myanmar, the United States of America, and the European Union will be represented.
The theme of the summit will be “deeper integration for peace and prosperity.
The Eighteen SAARC summit is expected t o finalized three agreement s on SAARCC Motor vehicles for Regulation of passenger and cargo vehicle traffic, SAARC inter – governmental Framework for Energy Cooperation and SAARC Regional Railways.
