Prime Min­is­ter in Bangladesh

Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay is on an of­fi­cial visit to Bangladesh from 6th to 8 De­cem­ber 2014 at the invitation of H.E. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Min­is­ter of Bangladesh. Yes­ter­day on ar­rival at the Hazrat Shah­jalal In­ter­na­tional Air­port (HSIA) in Dhaka Ly­onch­hen was re­ceived by the Prime Min­is­ter of Bangladesh H.E. Sheikh Hasina . A Guard of Honor was granted to Ly­onchen after that. Ly­onch­hen also vis­ited the Na­tional Martyrs’ Memo­rial in Dhaka and paid re­spect to the martyrs who lost their lives dur­ing the lib­er­a­tion war.

Ac­cord­ing to the Bangladeshi me­dia re­posts red car­pet was rolled out to wel­come Prime Min­is­ter Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay on Satur­day morn­ing in Dhaka and the vis­its aims to give the re­la­tions be­tween the two neigh­bor­ing na­tions a stronger foot­ing. Co­op­er­a­tion in the ar­eas of elec­tric­ity, con­nec­tiv­ity, trade be­tween the two coun­tries, wa­ter re­sources man­age­ment and cul­ture are likely to be dis­cussed at the meet­ing.

Dur­ing the visit, Ly­onch­hen will pay a cour­tesy call on the Pres­i­dent of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Md. Ab­dul Hamid. Yes­ter­day evening the prime min­is­ter and the Bhutanese del­e­ga­tion called on the Prime Min­is­ter of Bangladesh and dis­cussed widerang­ing is­sues on bi­lat­eral re­la­tions and

other is­sues of common in­ter­est. The del­e­ga­tion also called on H.E. Mr. Abul Has­san Mah­mood Ali, MP, Hon’ble For­eign Min­is­ter of Bangladesh yes­ter­day.

One im­por­tant out­come of the visit will be the re­newal for a fur­ther ten-year pe­riod of the Bi­lat­eral Trade Agree­ment be­tween the two coun­tries. The Agree­ment will pro­vide greater im­pe­tus to the ex­ist­ing trade and com­mer­cial re­la­tions be­tween Bhutan and Bangladesh.

This is Ly­onch­hen’s first visit to Bangladesh after as­sum­ing of­fice in July 2013.The visit will fur­ther strengthen the close ties of friend­ship and co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Bhutan and Bangladesh.

Ly­onch­hen is ac­com­pa­nied by Ly­onpo Rinzin Dorji, For­eign Min­is­ter, Ly­onpo Norbu Wangchuk, Min­is­ter for Eco­nomic Af­fairs and other se­nior of­fi­cials of the gov­ern­ment. A business del­e­ga­tion will also ac­com­pany Ly­onch­hen.

Mean­while, the Bhutanese business del­e­ga­tion met with their Bangladeshi business lead­ers in Dhaka yes­ter­day to ex­plore business op­por­tu­ni­ties be­tween the South Asian coun­tries.

The Fed­er­a­tion of Bangladesh Cham­bers of Com­merce and In­dus­try (FBCCI) hosted the event, ‘Net­work­ing Business Meet­ing’, at its meet­ing room.

Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay and the Bhutanese del­e­ga­tion called on to H.E. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Min­is­ter of Bangladesh yes­ter­day .The two Prime Min­is­ters dis­cussed on wide range of bi­lat­eral re­la­tions and other is­sues of common in­ter­est.
