His Majesty the hing graces the closing session of the National Assembly
His Majesty the King graced the closing ceremony of the fourth session of the second parliament last Tuesday.
During the closing ceremony, Speaker Jigme Zangpo on behalf of the parliament welcome His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo for the concluding ceremony of the fourth session of the second parliament and expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo for gracing the occasion.
He also welcomed the members of the royal family, representatives of the central monastic body, senior government officials, representatives of the international community and all other guests.
The speaker informed about the bills that are deliberated by the two houses during the last session. The local government member’s entitlement bill 2014, bio safety bill of Bhutan 2014, narcotics drugs, psychotropic substance abuse bill 2014, tenancy bill of Bhutan 2014 were the bills deliberated during the session.
The above bills has been re-deliberated in accordance to the provisions of the Constitution and will be submitted to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo for the Royal assent to de deliberated in the joint sitting of parliament, he added.
In addition to that, speaker informed that the pending old performance audit reports and the recommendations by the Public Accounts Committee were deliberated. As a result, all pending performance audit reports till 2013 have been resolved.
Furthermore, the National Assembly extensively deliberated on the review report of the election act of 2008, human rights committee’s report and the report by the women, children & youth committee, said the speaker.
The National Assembly has ratified the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and Statute of International Renewable Energy Agency. These conventions have been transmitted to the National Council for their endorsement, he added.
The Speaker also informed about the upcoming the national day celebration and said that the last time His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo graced a National Day celebration was the 98th National Day which was celebrated in TrashiYangtse in 2005. Since then for the last eight years no such occasions have not been graced by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
Since this year, the national day will be celebrated at Kanglung, Trashigang, speaker said His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo will graced the 107th National Day there.
The Speaker added that, the occasion will provide providential opportunity for the people of eastern Bhutan in general and the people of Trashigang in particular to receive audience with Their Majesties the Kings. He further said that it would also enable the people from all over Bhutan to pay their respects and express gratitude to our beloved monarchs for their noble initiatives.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Chairman and the Opposition Leader expressed their gratitude to His Majesty the King for the gracing of the closing ceremony of the session.
