The N4th pession of kational Council concludes
The 14th session of the National Council concluded with Tashi Moenlam last Tuesday. The Chairperson attributed the successful conclusion of the 14th Session to the guidance of His Majesty the King, the noble vision of His Maj- esty the Fourth King and relentless effort made by the council members.
In preparation for the 15th Session, the National Council Committees will review and deliberate on entitlement & service conditions Act for the Holders, Members and Commissioners of the Constitutional Offices of Bhutan (Amendment) Bill 2014, Election (Amendment) Bill 2014, Budget & Appropriation Bill 201516; and Annual Anti-Corruption Report 2014.
The Legislative Committee will also prepare towards ratification of Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Protocol for Ratification of International Conventions and Treaties.
Further, the Committees will review and study Tourism Policy and Programs, Employment Policies, Programs and Strategies and Hydropower Policies and Programs. In the 15thSession, the House will deliberate on six legislative issues, four policy issues and one report. The tentative agenda can be accessed from the official website of the National Council.
In his concluding remarks, the Chairperson thanked the Department of National Properties for rendering unwavering technical and logistical support, Royal Bhutan Police for ensuring security and safety of the House, Bhutan Broadcasting Service for live broadcast of the proceedings, media personnel for their excellent coverage, and the members and the secretariat staff for their active participation.
In winding up, the House also offered Zhabten to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo to mark His 60th Birth Anniversary.
