The N4th pes­sion of ka­tional Coun­cil con­cludes

The 14th ses­sion of the Na­tional Coun­cil con­cluded with Tashi Moen­lam last Tues­day. The Chair­per­son at­trib­uted the suc­cess­ful con­clu­sion of the 14th Ses­sion to the guid­ance of His Majesty the King, the noble vi­sion of His Maj- esty the Fourth King and re­lent­less ef­fort made by the coun­cil mem­bers.

In prepa­ra­tion for the 15th Ses­sion, the Na­tional Coun­cil Com­mit­tees will re­view and de­lib­er­ate on en­ti­tle­ment & ser­vice con­di­tions Act for the Hold­ers, Mem­bers and Com­mis­sion­ers of the Con­sti­tu­tional Of­fices of Bhutan (Amend­ment) Bill 2014, Elec­tion (Amend­ment) Bill 2014, Bud­get & Ap­pro­pri­a­tion Bill 201516; and An­nual Anti-Cor­rup­tion Re­port 2014.

The Leg­isla­tive Com­mit­tee will also pre­pare to­wards rat­i­fi­ca­tion of Doha Amend­ment to the Ky­oto Pro­to­col to the UN Frame­work Con­ven­tion on Cli­mate Change (UNFCCC), Statute of the In­ter­na­tional Re­new­able En­ergy Agency (IRENA) and Pro­to­col for Rat­i­fi­ca­tion of In­ter­na­tional Con­ven­tions and Treaties.

Fur­ther, the Com­mit­tees will re­view and study Tourism Pol­icy and Pro­grams, Em­ploy­ment Poli­cies, Pro­grams and Strate­gies and Hy­dropower Poli­cies and Pro­grams. In the 15thSes­sion, the House will de­lib­er­ate on six leg­isla­tive is­sues, four pol­icy is­sues and one re­port. The ten­ta­tive agenda can be ac­cessed from the of­fi­cial web­site of the Na­tional Coun­cil.

In his con­clud­ing re­marks, the Chair­per­son thanked the Depart­ment of Na­tional Prop­er­ties for ren­der­ing un­wa­ver­ing tech­ni­cal and lo­gis­ti­cal support, Royal Bhutan Po­lice for en­sur­ing se­cu­rity and safety of the House, Bhutan Broad­cast­ing Ser­vice for live broad­cast of the pro­ceed­ings, me­dia per­son­nel for their ex­cel­lent cov­er­age, and the mem­bers and the sec­re­tariat staff for their ac­tive par­tic­i­pa­tion.

In wind­ing up, the House also of­fered Zhabten to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo to mark His 60th Birth An­niver­sary.
