Golden ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tion of Dech­heling Lower Sec­ondary School (DLSS)

Dech­heling LSS com­pleted its 50th years of un­wa­ver­ing ser­vice to Tsa Wa Sum on 17th De­cem­ber, 2014. To mark this his­toric oc­ca­sion, the school, alumni and com­mu­nity felt of a need to ini­ti­ate Golden Ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tion with the fol­low­ing ob­jec­tives: Pay our trib­ute and reaf­firm our com­mit­ment to Tsa Wa Sum , to mark the 60th birth An­niver­sary of fourth Druk Gyalpo, rec­og­nize and ac­knowl­edge the de­voted ser­vice of staff who has served till date and to con­nect and bring to­gether all grad­u­ates of this school once again in the same school.

The prepa­ra­tion for this his­toric event be­gan almost one year ahead. For the suc­cess and smooth co­or­di­na­tion, a com­mit­tee was formed at na­tional and com­mu­nity level with ap­pro­pri­ate job del­e­ga­tion. The day for cel­e­bra­tion was finalized on 17th De­cem­ber, 2014 co­in­cid­ing to 107th Na­tional Day. The na­tion level steer­ing com­mit­tee lead by chair per­son Choida Jamt­sho, na­tional assem­bly mem­ber from Nanglam con­stituency worked very hard in con­nect­ing with alumni spread over twenty Dzongkhags. Their main re­spon­si­bil­ity was to mo­bi­lize fund for cel­e­bra­tion through con­tri­bu­tion from alumni. Com­mu­nity level steer­ing com­mu­nity and school had an equal re­spon­si­bil­ity in do­ing all the field prepa­ra­tion and ar­range­ment for the event.

The com­mu­nity peo­ple and stu­dents are very much en­thu­si­as­tic in mark­ing this his­toric event. They have never hes­i­tated to come for­ward to ex­tend any help re­quired for the cel­e­bra­tion. The fi­nal stage of prepa­ra­tion was the busiest hour with all staffs and stu­dents hav­ing needed to sacrifice ev­ery­thing to com­plete prepa­ra­tion on time. As the mem­ory of this his­toric event clock tower was con­structed in the cen­tre of aca­demic block with the fi­nan­cial support from alumni con­tri­bu­tion. The con­struc­tion work was com­pleted on time and con­se­cra­tion cer­e­mony was con­ducted on 16th De­cem­ber, 2014.

On 17th De­cem­ber the day pro­gram started with re­cep­tion of chief guest Dorji Norbu Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Depart­ment of Lo­cal gov­er­nance at the school gate by school fac­ulty and alumni. It then fol­lowed the un­veil­ing of clock tower and sec­ond re­cep­tion at the cer­e­mo­nial ground. The Royal Bhutan po­lice of­fered the guard of hon­our along with hoist­ing of na­tional flag and singing na­tional an­them by stu­dents. The march­ing of­fer­ing, wel­come note, re­leas­ing golden ju­bilee mag­a­zine, award pro­gram, chief guest ad­dress, singing Zhabten in hon­our of 4th Druk Gyalpo, march past, and cul­tural pro­gram fol­lowed one after another. The cul­tural pro­gram was so beau­ti­ful that it toughly en­ter­tained the gath­er­ing. The event was made more en­joy­able and en­ter­tain­ing by hun­dreds of shop keep­ers turn out some com­ing as far from Thimphu and Paro. The chief guest and alumni hoisted lunch for the peo­ple gath­ered in cel­e­bra­tion. The day pro­gram came to the end with all par­tic­i­pat­ing in Tashi Labey and to­gether prayed for the long live of our king, un­end­ing peace and har­mony in the coun­try. The guest from Nganglam re­turned back after lunch.

Evening pro­gram con­tin­ued at 6:00 PM with the stage show in the open ground by the stu­dents and alumni. Un­ex­pect­edly evening pro­gram was another en­ter­tain­ing event with most days crowed stay­ing back till 11: 00 PM. Be­sides, evening pro­gram turnout to be the bonus for the shop keep­ers run­ning the shop and stall in cel­e­bra­tion.

On 18th De­cem­ber ar- ch­ery match was played in be­tween school team and alumni team. The match was so com­pet­i­tive that none of the team could fin­ish the set. At the end school team was de­clared win­ner with higher point in the set.

The last event of the golden Ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tion was the hoist­ing of din­ner by Chief guest and alumni to the staff and se­nior stu­dents of school as the ges­ture for the hard work and trou­ble that they have over­come in mak­ing golden ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tion a most suc­cess­ful and mem­o­rable event.

In gen­eral golden ju­bilee cel­e­bra­tion has been the most suc­cess­ful event and it was pos­si­ble be­cause of support and as­sis­tance that was re­ceived from all stake hold­ers.
