The First Tech­ni­cal and Vo­ca­tional Ed­u­ca­tion and Train­ing Win­ter Camp

The Min­istry of Labour and Hu­man Re­sources will or­ga­nize the First ever Tech­ni­cal and Vo­ca­tional Ed­u­ca­tion and Train­ing (TVET) Win­ter Camp with the theme “Re­veal­ing the world of skills to youth” from the 19th – 31st Jan­uary 2015 at the Tech­ni­cal Train­ing In­sti­tute (TTI) Rangjung in Trashigang, as a ded­i­ca­tion to­wards the cel­e­bra­tion of the 60th Birth An­niver­sary of His Majesty the 4th King.

About 100 high school stu­dents from the six east­ern Dzongkhags are ex­pected to take part in the TVET Win­ter Camp.

The Camp will be of two (2) weeks du­ra­tion with a few days ded­i­cated to an ori­en­ta­tion to TVET and in­for­ma­tion shar­ing; the re­main­ing time will be di­vided be­tween site vis­its to var­i­ous lo­cal ar­eas of in­ter­est and prac­ti­cal hands on skills ex­pe­ri­ences for the var­i­ous trades of car­pen­try , ma­sonry, plumb­ing , com­puter hard­ware , au­to­mo­bile , weld­ing and Tshem­drup.

The ob­jec­tives of the event are to im­prove the so­ci­etal im­age of TVET and cre­ate aware­ness among the school stu­dents of TVET as a vi­able ca­reer path. As a part of this, the Depart­ment of Hu­man Re­sources will also be ori­ent­ing the stu­dents on avail­able skills pro­grammes, em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties, Labour laws & reg­u­la­tions, the Bhutan Vo­ca­tional Qual­i­fi­ca­tions Frame­work & Life­long Learn­ing.

The Camp will be man­aged by the TTIRangjung and in­struc­tors from the other TTIs and IZCs.

The hence­forth an­nual TVET Win­ter Camp will be a means to pro­vide the young school stu­dents, who are our ma­jor tar­get group with an op­por­tu­nity to ex­pe­ri­ence TVET first­hand.
