The First Technical and Vocational Education and Training Winter Camp
The Ministry of Labour and Human Resources will organize the First ever Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Winter Camp with the theme “Revealing the world of skills to youth” from the 19th – 31st January 2015 at the Technical Training Institute (TTI) Rangjung in Trashigang, as a dedication towards the celebration of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the 4th King.
About 100 high school students from the six eastern Dzongkhags are expected to take part in the TVET Winter Camp.
The Camp will be of two (2) weeks duration with a few days dedicated to an orientation to TVET and information sharing; the remaining time will be divided between site visits to various local areas of interest and practical hands on skills experiences for the various trades of carpentry , masonry, plumbing , computer hardware , automobile , welding and Tshemdrup.
The objectives of the event are to improve the societal image of TVET and create awareness among the school students of TVET as a viable career path. As a part of this, the Department of Human Resources will also be orienting the students on available skills programmes, employment opportunities, Labour laws & regulations, the Bhutan Vocational Qualifications Framework & Lifelong Learning.
The Camp will be managed by the TTIRangjung and instructors from the other TTIs and IZCs.
The henceforth annual TVET Winter Camp will be a means to provide the young school students, who are our major target group with an opportunity to experience TVET firsthand.
