The National Assembly launches its new website
To access and to view the Parliament session live , National Assembly launched new bilingual website and Strategic Development Plan (2014-2018) on 14th January in the Capital, funded by UNDP.
During the launched of the website, National Assembly Speaker, Jigme Zangpo said that new website will be very effective and more over feedback can be given through the new website.
“It will reinforce the democracy in Bhutan as people can speak out their ideas, it will be in both Dzongkha and English,” said the speaker.
The speaker said that the government agencies can share their feedback and it will also help us to maintain transparency and accountability.
UN Resident Representative, Ms Christina Carlson, said that the launch of Strategic Development Plan (2014-2018) will direct National Assembly for the next four years to strengthen and promote democracy in Bhutan.
“NA website proffer a room to make vibrant democracy in Bhutan through people’s participation,” said Ms Carlson.
The UN Resident Representative congratulated the National Assembly on the occasion and conveyed that the new website and the Strategic Development Plan reflect the strong cooperation shared by the UNDP and the National Assembly of Bhutan.
With the website, the NA secretariat can also inform to Members of Parliament (MPs) through SMS on other any activities.
According to the Strategic Development Plan (2014-2018) states that the first strategic objective is to strengthen the institutional capacity of the NA Secretariat and second strategic objective is that improving the legislative capacity of the National Assembly, the third one is followed with to enhance the oversight capacity of the national assembly and the3 final one is to strengthen the National assembly’s representation and outreach capacity.
Meanwhile, the website for National Council (NC) will be launched soon and can be access the information and people can share their thoughts by using the same URL: www.parliamnent.bt.
The occasion was graced by Hon’ble Speaker Jigme Zangpo and attended by Hon’ble Members of Parliament, UN Resident Representative, UN Officials and staff of the National Assembly Secretariat.
