Au­tho­rized ab­sence for the For­eign Min­is­ter

The For­eign Min­sis­ter Ly­onpo Rinzin Dorji will be on au­tho­rized ab­sence as the Gov­ern­ment has been no­ti­fied that the Of­fice of At­tor­ney Gen­eral and An­tiCor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion have com­pleted the in­ves­ti­ga­tion on al­leged mal­prac­tices with re­gard to the ren­o­va­tion of Lhakhang Karpo dur­ing the ten­ure of the Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs as the Dzongdag for Haa Dzongkhag. Since the in­ves­ti­ga­tion has been com­pleted, the Gov­ern­ment has ad­vised the OAG to pro­ceed with the case in ac­cor­dance with the law of the land.

The Gov­ern­ment has de­cided to grant Rinzin Dorji, Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs an “Au­tho­rized Ab­sence” to pre­vent con­tro­versy and con­flict of in­ter­est, see­ing that the OAG will be prose­cut­ing the case on be­half of the Gov­ern­ment.

Fur­ther­more, the Lhengye Zhungt­shog rec­om­mended that the Prime Min­is­ter take over the port­fo­lio of For­eign Min­is­ter.

In the view of the above, the gov­ern­ment has de­cided to grant an “Au­tho­rized Ab­sence” to Rinzin Dorji, Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs till the case is re­solved and the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs’ port­fo­lio to the Prime Min­is­ter till the case is re­solved
