Ustad Glulam Abass Khan performs in Thimphu as a part of Indian Republic Day celebration
As part of celebrations of India’s Republic Day and also the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, Nehru-Wangchuck Cultural Centre organized a light classical performance by six member cultural troupe led by Ustad Ghulam Abass Khan sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) New Delhi. On 26th January, the group performed at India House, which was well attended by Her Majesties the Queen Mothers, Lyonchhoen Tshering Tobgay, Cabinet Ministers, Constitutional Heads, Representatives of International Organizations and other distinguished guests Starting with recital of Raag Hansdwani, Ustad Ghulam Abass Khan rendered patriotic songs and all time hit “Dama Dam Masat Kalandhar”.
On 27th January, 2015, the second performance was arranged at Department of Youth and Sports (DYS), Auditorium. The hall was filled beyond the capacity of 200. Lyonpo Dorji Choden Minister of Ministry of Works and Human Settlements, senior government officials, officers from Embassy of India and other distinguished guests attended the programme. Ustad Ghulam Abass Khan rendered Kyal, Tarana, and Ghazals and hit Bollywood songs.
