Inflation decreases by 0.24% during the month of December 2014
The inflation rate for December 2014 was 6.38% as compared to 6.62% during the month of November last year. This is 0.24% point lower than the previous month .The inflation rate for the food item was 5.13% and 7.23 % on the no food items. This was revealed by the National Statistical Bureau when it released its monthly consumer price index for the month of December 2014 last Tuesday.
Prices of domestic goods and services increased by 6.72% and imported goods increased by 6.19% over one year period which is from December 2013 to December 2014.
The purchasing power of Ngultrum ( PPN) during the month of December 2014 has remained at 84 , which has remained the same from the month of September 2014. The PPN as measured by the Consumer Price Index was 84 Ngulrums as of December 2014, which means Ngultrum 100 in December 2014 is worth only Ngultrum 84 at December 2012 prices. The purchasing power of Ngultrum has decreased by 6.001 percent in the past 12 months which is from December 2013 to December 2014 due to price rise in the economy.
