In­fla­tion de­creases by 0.24% dur­ing the month of De­cem­ber 2014

The in­fla­tion rate for De­cem­ber 2014 was 6.38% as com­pared to 6.62% dur­ing the month of Novem­ber last year. This is 0.24% point lower than the pre­vi­ous month .The in­fla­tion rate for the food item was 5.13% and 7.23 % on the no food items. This was re­vealed by the Na­tional Sta­tis­ti­cal Bureau when it re­leased its monthly con­sumer price in­dex for the month of De­cem­ber 2014 last Tues­day.

Prices of do­mes­tic goods and ser­vices in­creased by 6.72% and im­ported goods in­creased by 6.19% over one year pe­riod which is from De­cem­ber 2013 to De­cem­ber 2014.

The pur­chas­ing power of Ngul­trum ( PPN) dur­ing the month of De­cem­ber 2014 has re­mained at 84 , which has re­mained the same from the month of Septem­ber 2014. The PPN as mea­sured by the Con­sumer Price In­dex was 84 Ngul­rums as of De­cem­ber 2014, which means Ngul­trum 100 in De­cem­ber 2014 is worth only Ngul­trum 84 at De­cem­ber 2012 prices. The pur­chas­ing power of Ngul­trum has de­creased by 6.001 per­cent in the past 12 months which is from De­cem­ber 2013 to De­cem­ber 2014 due to price rise in the econ­omy.
