Chef team Daniel Mat­tern and Rox­ana Jul­la­pat to grace Bhutan In­ter­na­tional Food Fes­ti­val

Renowned chef cou­ple Daniel Mat­tern and Rox­ana Jul­la­pat will be ar­riv­ing in the coun­try for Bhutan In­ter­na­tional Food Fes­ti­val, sched­uled to take place at the Clock Tower Square in Thim­phu from Fe­bru­ary 19- 22 this year.

Mat­tern was the ex­ec­u­tive chef and Jul­la­pat the pas­try chef of Cooks County, the fa­mous Bev­erly Boule­vard restau­rant among the food­ies, high- class and elites in Los An­ge­les that opened up three years ago. The cou­ple had left Cooks County to pur­sue other projects in De­cem­ber last year. The star chef cou­ple is renowned and fre­quently fea­tured for their works and the con­tri­bu­tion they have made to the L. A. food scene in food mag­a­zines and blogs glob­ally.

In an ar­ti­cle on Septem­ber 1, 2012, Los An­ge­les Mag­a­zine de­scribes them as ‘ The Friends of the Farm’ given their em­pha­sis on the farmto- ta­ble ethos. The hus­band- and- wife team is known for re­li­ably serv­ing some of the best farm­ers’ mar­ket- driven cui­sine in Los An­ge­les.

With their trip ex- penses spon­sored by Le MERI­DIEN Thim­phu, the chef cou­ple will mostly deal with the fu­sion as­pects of Bhutanese foods dur­ing the food fes­ti­val here in Thim­phu. They will also do some back­ground re­searches on Bhutanese foods and present their in­ter­pre­ta­tion, by fus­ing or com­bin­ing Bhutanese cui­sine with el­e­ments of other dif­fer­ent culi­nary tra­di­tions. The star chef cou­ple will also con­duct mas­ter class work­shops for in­ter­ested lo­cal chefs and cooks dur­ing the food fes­ti­val.

Mean­while, Bhutan In­ter­na­tional Food Fes­ti­val is an event run­ning as part of the first an­nual Bhutan In­ter­na­tional Fes­ti­val ( BhIF) and or­ga­nized by Ho­tel and Restau­rant As­so­ci­a­tion of Bhutan.
