Indo – Bhutan car rally concludes

The fifth Indo-Bhutan car rally con­cluded in Thim­phu on, Fri­day .The rally, which is con­ducted af­ter ev­ery two years, was flagged off from Silig­uri in West Ben­gal of In­dia. Twenty seven cars, in­clud­ing one woman team and 18 rally com­peti­tors cov­ered a dis­tance of 870 KM. From Silig­uri, they went to Gang­tok in Sikkim and to Phuentshol­ing and fi­nally Thim­phu.

Un­like pre­vi­ous ral­lies, this one does not have Bhutanese par­tic­i­pants. The Indo-Bhutan Friend­ship As­so­ci­a­tion con­ducts the event in recog­ni­tion of strong bond be­tween Bhutan and In­dia. It first be­gan in 2007.

The win­ner of the rally will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.100,000 along with a tro­phy. The next, sixth Indo-Bhutan car rally, will flag of from Gang­tok, Sikkim. The rally was or­ga­nized by Indo- Bhutan Friend­ship As­so­ci­a­tion to com­mem­o­rate the 60th Birth An­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo . The prizes were awarded at the Clock Tower Square yes­ter­day.
