Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay meets the Ambassador of Kazakhstan
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay met with H.E. Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev, Ambassador of Republic of Kazakhstan to India at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang last Tuesday. ]Lyonchhen congratulated Ambassador Sarsenbayev on his successful term as the ambassador to the Middle East and said that his presence in the neighbourhood meant Bhutan and Kazakhstan would be able to develop closer ties with each other. Lyonchhen said that with Kazakhstan’s mazing success story and as a similar landlocked country, Bhutan could learn a lot from Kazakhstan’s experiences. Lyonchhen and Ambassador Sarsenbayev discussed on collaborating together and exploring tourism opportunities by encouraging people-to-people contact, promoting student exchange programmes and combating climate change. Lyonchhen also proposed acquiring Kazakhstan’s assistance in building cycling trails around Thimphu, which could be used for commuting as well as for sporting activities. Lyonchhen thanked the ambassador for visiting Bhutan and expressed that he looked forward to working together and strengthening ties with Kazakhstan in the coming years.
