The sale of lo­cal rice en­cour­aged

As a part of agri­cul­ture com­mer­cial­iza­tion and in ac­cor­dance with agree­ment be­tween Food Cor­po­ra­tion of Bhutan Limited (FCBL) and Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Forests (MoAF), the sale of lo­cally pro­duced rice was launched by the Min­is­ter for Agri­cul­ture and Forests Yeshey Dorji at the FCB com­plex in Changzam­tog in Thim­phu last Mon­day.

FCBL has col­lected more than 285 met­ric tons of pad­dies from Sarpang Dzongkhag , Pu­nakha and Wan­due Dzongkhags . . The sale of Lo­cal Maap, Lo­cal kaap and im­proved va­ri­eties of this rice is avail­able only through FCBL out­lets. There are seven pi­lot dzongkhags; Thim­phu, Paro, wang­due, phuentshol­ing, s/jongkhar, Mon­gar and Trashi gang were mar­ket­ing of th­ese rice will be fo­cused.

Fur­ther­more, the mills are man­aged by FCBL sup­ported by Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture (DoA), MoAF with fund sup­port from RNR EUSSP.
