His Majesty grants au­di­ence to De­Su­ups and oth­ers

The peo­ple of Bhutan, rep­re­sented by the Prime Min­is­ter and Lhengye, Pungthim Drat­shang, Heads of Armed Forces and Con­sti­tu­tional Bod­ies, Cen­te­nary Farm­ers, Taxi Driv­ers, Trongsa Pen­lop Schol­ars, and De­su­ups, of­fered wishes to His Majesty The King for His Majesty’s 35th Birth An­niver­sary at the Lingkana Palace on the 22nd of Fe­bru­ary 2015.

In the af­ter­noon, His Majesty The King granted an au­di­ence to the vol­un­teers who par­tic­i­pated in the 14th De­Su­ung Train­ing Pro­gramme at Lungten­phu. His Majesty was ac­com­pa­nied by Her Majesty The Gyalt­suen.

In an hour- long Au­di­ence with the De­Su­ups, His Majesty de­scribed the vi­sion with which De­Su­ung had been es­tab­lished- to nur­ture cit­i­zens who would serve with loy­alty and ded­i­ca­tion for the ben­e­fit of the coun­try, peo­ple and the fu­ture of Bhutan.

His Majesty shared the var­i­ous kinds of chal­lenges that we are faced with to­day, in our ef­forts to con­sol­i­date our fu­ture, and His Majesty’s deep­est con­cerns re­gard­ing th­ese chal­lenges.

The 77 men and 39 women vol­un­teers com­pleted their three- week train­ing in Ten­chol­ing, Wang­duepho­drang on 7th Fe­bru­ary, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of De­Su­ups in the coun­try to 1,644.

His Majesty also granted din­ner to the Se­nior Ex­ec­u­tive Lead­er­ship Pro­gramme ( SELP) Alumni from the Royal In­sti­tute of Gov­er­nance and Strate­gic Stud­ies ( RIGSS).

SELP is the flag­ship lead­er­ship devel­op­ment pro­gramme in RIGSS, de­signed for se­nior public ser­vice of­fi­cials and cor­po­rate ex­ec­u­tives. RIGSS, which is lo­cated in Phuentshol­ing, was es­tab­lished upon the Royal Com­mand of His Majesty The King, to pro­mote ex­cel­lence in gov­er­nance, lead­er­ship and strate­gic stud­ies.
