The newly ap­pointed In­dian Sec­re­tary first of­fi­cial visit to Bhutan

The newly ap­pointed For­eign Sec­re­tary of In­dia Dr. S. Jais­hankar will be ar­riv­ing in the coun­try on a two days of­fi­cial visit to­day. This is Dr. Jais­hankar’s first of­fi­cial abroad af­ter as­sum­ing the post of For­eign Sec­re­tary in Jan­uary this year.

Dur­ing the visit, For­eign Sec­tary Jais­hankar will re­ceive au­di­ences with His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. He will also called on Ly­on­hhen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay and meet the se­nior of­fi­cials of the gov­ern­ment.

The For­eign Sec­re­tary will be ac­com­pa­nied by Mr. Ab­hay Thakur , Joint Sec­re­tary ( North ) , Dr. Ajay M. Gon­dane, Joint Sec­re­tary ( SARRC ), Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan, Joint Sec­tary ( BM) and Dr. Shilpak N. Am­bule , Direc­tor ( FSO) , Min­istry of Ex­ter­nal Af­fairs of the Gov­ern­ment of In­dia.

Bhutan and In­dia share strong his­tor­i­cal and cul­tural re­la­tions and en­joy close ties of friend­ship and co­op­er­a­tion. The present visit by the For­eign Sec­re­tary of In­dia is in keep­ing with the well es­tab­lished tra­di­tion of regular ex­change of high level vis­its and ex­ten­sive ex­changes of views be­tween lead­ers of the two coun­tries. The visit will pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity to re­new and fur­ther strengthen the al­ready ex­ist­ing bonds of friend­ship and co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries.
