The newly appointed Indian Secretary first official visit to Bhutan
The newly appointed Foreign Secretary of India Dr. S. Jaishankar will be arriving in the country on a two days official visit today. This is Dr. Jaishankar’s first official abroad after assuming the post of Foreign Secretary in January this year.
During the visit, Foreign Sectary Jaishankar will receive audiences with His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. He will also called on Lyonhhen Tshering Tobgay and meet the senior officials of the government.
The Foreign Secretary will be accompanied by Mr. Abhay Thakur , Joint Secretary ( North ) , Dr. Ajay M. Gondane, Joint Secretary ( SARRC ), Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan, Joint Sectary ( BM) and Dr. Shilpak N. Ambule , Director ( FSO) , Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India.
Bhutan and India share strong historical and cultural relations and enjoy close ties of friendship and cooperation. The present visit by the Foreign Secretary of India is in keeping with the well established tradition of regular exchange of high level visits and extensive exchanges of views between leaders of the two countries. The visit will provide an opportunity to renew and further strengthen the already existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
