Fifth SAARC Health Ministers Meeting
India is going to host the 5th SAARC Health Ministers Meeting this week in New Delhi. The Ministers will discuss on key health issues including HIV/AIDS, prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, health infrastructure, human resources for health, immunization and mental health. Before the Ministers meet on 8th April 2015, the 7th meeting of SAARC Expert Group on HIV/AIDS, 5th Meeting of the SAARC Technical Committee on Health and Population and the 5th Meeting of the SAARC Senior Officials (Health Secretaries) are scheduled on 6th and 7th April 2015. Bhutan’s health minister Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Afghan health minister Firozuddin Feroz, Bangladeshi health minister Zahid Maleque, Indian health Minister JP Nadda, Maldives’ health minister Ahmed Zuhoor, Nepal’s health minister Khaga Raj Adhikari, Pakistani health minister Saira Afzal Tarar , and Sri Lankan health minister Rajitha Senaratne would come together to discuss regional health challenges and to strengthen collaborations.
