Bhutan receives the excise duty refund of Nu. 1.76 Billion for 2013 from GoI
The Finance Minster Lyonpo Namgay Dorji received a cheque amounting to Nu. 1.76 billion from the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan , Gautam Bambawale last Friday. This amount represents the excise duty refund (EDR) for the year 2013. The refund amount is jointly prepared by officials of the Directorate General of Inspection, Customs and Excise, Government of India and Bhutanese Customs after verification of records compiled by the concerned agencies of the Royal Government of Bhutan. As a mark of friendship and goodwill, Government of India provides excise duty refund to Bhutan on imports from India, on an annual basis.
