Guin­ness World Record cer­tifi­cates awarded

28 June Thim­phu. Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck awarded the Guin­ness World Record’s cer­tifi­cates to 100 vol­un­teers for their achieve­ments fol­lowed by cer­tifi­cate to Of­fi­cial stew­ards, event part­ners, media part­ners, PICSA staff, Forestry of­fi­cials in­volved in the plan­ta­tion pro­ject and also to the of­fi­cials who had ren­dered sup­port to the plan­ta­tion pro­ject.

The sec­ond June 2015 was a very spe­cial day for the Bhutanese peo­ple. The holi­est day of the year cel­e­brated the 41st An­niver­sary of the coro­na­tion of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo co­in­cid­ing with So­cial Forestry Day. On this very aus­pi­cious day the 100 vol­un­teers had set a Guin­ness World Record by plant­ing 49, 672 tree saplings in one hour be­neath the feet of the Buddha Dor­denma statue and ded­i­cated it to the 60th Birth an­niver­sary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

“We have pre­sented His Majesty, a pro­found birth­day gift; wor­thy of the cham­pion of the earth” High­lighted Her Ma­jestey the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. Dur­ing the event Her Ma­jestey ap­plauded and thanked ev­ery­one in­volved for con­tribut­ing to the Na­tions tri­umph, the Guin­ness World Record. Her Majesty also stated that the record as ‘land mark achieve­ment of our na­tion.’ She said ‘what is most grat­i­fy­ing is we have shown the world and most im­por­tantly our­selves of what we are ca­pa­ble of when we be­lieve in a cause and work col­lec­tively.”

Her Majesty thanked un­stint­ing sup­port of Prime Min­is­ter of Bhutan, Agri­cul­ture Min­is­ter and the de­voted of­fi­cials and staff of Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture and Forests, Min­istry of Fi­nance and the PISCA staff for their grand­est of ideas.

Fi­nally the gath­er­ing took the priv­i­lege to vow to the ul­ti­mate pa­triot His Majesty the fourth Druk gyalpo for mov­ing the Bhutan’s des­tiny to unimag­in­able heights and to the guid­ance and wis­dom of the His Majesty the Fifth King who lends to a brighter fu­ture.
