The ambassador Rauli Suikkanen of Finland paid a courtesy call on Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang last Friday.

The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador for Finland’s assistance, in terms of capacity building, to the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature and the Department of Hydro-Met Service. Lyonchhen told the ambassador that Bhutan stood to benefit and learn from Finland’s expertise in construction of tunnels for roads and especially in the hydropower sector.

The leaders discussed expediting engagement in sectors such as energy, education, ICT and environmentally friendly mining, among others.

Lyonchhen sought Finland’s assistance in Bhutan’s developmental needs and conveyed that RGoB is keen to engage with Finland, both bilaterally and multilaterally, in areas of mutual interests.

Ambassador Suikkanen thanked Lyonchhen for his time and said that he looked forward to working closely with Bhutan in the years ahead.
