Lyonchhen meets Bangladesh’s State Minister for Power
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay was called on by Mr. Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The minister led a 4-member delegation and met with Lyonchhen at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang last Friday. Lyonchhen conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty the King and thanked the delegation for their visit. Lyonchhen expressed the appreciation of RGoB and people of Bhutan to Government of Bangladesh for honoring the “Bangladesh Liberation War Honor” award to Late His Majesty the Third Druk Gyalpo King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck on March 27, 2012. The two leaders talked about collaborating on areas such as trade and commerce, power, minerals and agriculture. Lyonchhen suggested that the two governments review the existing trade agreement and expand it to make it more constructive. Lyonchhen further proposed export of boulders from Bhutan for use in the construction sector in Bangladesh. Lyonchhen and the state minister also discussed facilitating exchanges of visits, regional cooperation and people-to-people interaction between the two countries. The minister thanked Lyonchhen for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his delegation during their stay in the country.
