In­fla­tion rose by 4.74% dur­ing the year

The an­nual in­fla­tion rate for June 2015 rose by 4.74% as per the monthly con­sumer price in­dex bul­letin for the month re­leased by the Na­tional sta­tis­ti­cal Bureau. . The pe­riod taken for con­sid­er­a­tion was from June 2014 to June 2015 .This was 0.29 per­cent­age point lower than the pre­vi­ous month which was 5.03%. Prices for food have risen by 2.07% and non-food prices by 6.55%. The prices of do­mes­tic goods and ser­vices in­creased by 3.80% due to in­crease in food prices by 1.97% and non-food prices by 4.86%. The prices of im­ported goods in­creased by 5.65% be­cause of the in­crease in food prices by 2.28% and non-food prices by 8.30%

Ac­cord­ing to the bul- letin in the month to month in­fla­tion for June over pre­vi­ous month of May was 0.33%. The prices of the food and non­food in­creased by 0.31% and 0.34% re­spec­tively. Prices for do­mes­tic goods and ser­vices in­creased by 0.07% on an av­er­age over the pre­vi­ous month with cor­re­spond­ing in­crease in food and non-food prices by 0.11% and 0.04%. The prices for im­ported goods in­creased by 0.57% due to in­crease in food prices by 0.48% and non-food prices by 0.64%

The pur­chas­ing power of Ngul­trum as mea­sured by Con­sumer Price In­dex was 83 Ngul­trum as of June 2015. This means, Ngul­trum 100 in June 2015 is worth only Ngul­trum 83 at De­cem­ber 2012 prices. The pur­chas­ing power of Ngul­trum has de­creased by 4.53 per­cent in the past 12 months (i.e. from June 2014 to June 2015) due to price rise in the econ­omy.

As per the Na­tional Sta­tis­tics Bureau the bul­letin is com­piled us­ing De­cem­ber 2012 as the price ref­er­ence pe­riod and tracks the price move­ments of 436 com­modi­ties and ser­vices in 20 dis­tricts and 2 ma­jor ur­ban ar­eas. The bul­letin was re­leased last month.
