Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck inaugurated an Art Exhibition titled “Faces” at the Royal Textile Academy, last Monday. Other members of the Royal Family were also present on the occasion. The artist Zimbiri who graduated from Wheaton College in the United States, was her solo exhibition. The art illustrated the masks people wear. The artist says wrathful Mahayana masks have abandoned their beauty and tranquility to protect indicating love. This aspect, she said, fascinated her. She says the art collection represented her effort to understand various faces. Thirty four artworks are displayed at the exhibition which was opened to the public till yesterday.
