Bhutan – China bor­der talks

The 23 rd Round of Bound­ary talks be­tween Bhutan and the Gov­ern­ment of the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of China will be held in Thim­phu to­mor­row. The 11 -mem­ber Chi­nese del­e­ga­tion led by Mr. Liu Zhen­min, Vice For­eign Min­is­ter, Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs will ar­rive in the coun­try to­day.

The Bhutanese del­e­ga­tion to the talks will be led by Ly­onpo Dam- cho Dorji, Min­is­ter for For­eign Af­fairs, and will in­clude se­nior of­fi­cials from the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs and the In­ter­na­tional Bound­aries Sec­re­tar­iat. Bhutan last hosted the 21st Round of Bound­ary Talks on 22 Au­gust 2013.

Since then the 22”nd Round of Bound­ary Talks was held in China in July 2014 and two rounds of Ex­pert Group Meet­ings were held, one in Thim­phu in Oc­to­ber 2014 The bound­ary ne­go­ti­a­tions be­tween Bhutan and China are guided by the Guid­ing prin­ci­ples agreed to in 1988 and the Agree­ment on the Main­te­nance of Peace and Tran­quil­ity in the Bhutan-China Bor­der Ar­eas signed in 1998.
