The Village Health Worker Programme under the Department of Public Health conducted two days consultative meeting (04th - 05th Sept. 2015) at Paro to develop Supervision and Monitoring tools for Village Health Worker Services. The objective of the meeting is to ‘Strengthen the VHW Programme services at all levels.’ Participants at the meeting include DHOs; ADHOs; HAs; and relevant officials from the Ministry.

The VHW Programme was first introduced in 1978. VHWs form an integral part of the health care system by building linkages between the formal health care delivery settings and the communities. The primary role of VHWs is to function as an effective catalyst for health promotion and disease prevention in the communities, and not just as a mere advocate of health information.
