Beauty Pageant, (Miss Thim­phu) con­test by Tashi Cell

To celebrate 3G cov­er­age in 20 Dzongkhag and to em­power the women, Tashi cell or­ga­nized Beauty Pageant, Miss Thim­phu con­test on 20th Septem­ber, 2015. The pro­gram also aimed to en­cour­age youth’s tal­ents. They dis­played Sam­sung prod­ucts like tablet and mo­bile phones to in­form peo­ple about the prod­ucts they deal with and ser­vices they pro­vide to their cus­tomers.

The Gen­eral Man­ager with Tashi Cell Jigme Thin­ley, said that the pro­gram will be con­tin­ued if the cur­rent event could make dif­fer­ence in selling their prod- ucts and have pos­i­tive im­pact to women and chil­dren. “We are not con­cerned about the num­bers of prod­ucts we sell to­day but we are fo­cus­ing on in­form­ing peo­ple about our prod­ucts and ad­van­tages” he added. The Gen­eral Man­ager also said that they want to in­form peo­ple that about the prod­uct they deal with are only orig­i­nal ones as they have di­rect deal with Sam­sung Com­pany.

There were 12 girls who came for the au­di­tion but only six were se­lected for the fi­nal con­test con­sid­er­ing the time.

Dechen Pelden Norbu was the win­ner of the con­test and she was awarded sil­ver crown with a logo of the com­pany and a cash prize of Nu. 15,000 with gift ham­per and phone which worth Nu.10, 000.

Sin­gay Bidha was the run­ners-up; she was awarded with the cash price of Nu. 8000 with gift ham­per and phone which worth Nu. 16,000.

Dechen Zam is the one of the con­tes­tant of Beauty Pageant; she was the sec­ond run­ners up and she won the miss beau­ti­ful eyes. Dechen added, win­ning is not im­por­tant but par­tic­i­pa­tion is the most. The main aim of par­tic­i­pat­ing in Beauty Pageant is to be a role model of youths es­pe­cially to the stu­dents of ILCS Tak­tse col­lege . The ti­tle of Miss beau­ti­ful eyes is un­ex­pected but she feels she achieved the big­gest goal in her life. Dechen is proud to say, she is one of the Bhutanese citizen to pro­mote cul­ture and tra­di­tions too.
