Beauty Pageant, (Miss Thimphu) contest by Tashi Cell
To celebrate 3G coverage in 20 Dzongkhag and to empower the women, Tashi cell organized Beauty Pageant, Miss Thimphu contest on 20th September, 2015. The program also aimed to encourage youth’s talents. They displayed Samsung products like tablet and mobile phones to inform people about the products they deal with and services they provide to their customers.
The General Manager with Tashi Cell Jigme Thinley, said that the program will be continued if the current event could make difference in selling their prod- ucts and have positive impact to women and children. “We are not concerned about the numbers of products we sell today but we are focusing on informing people about our products and advantages” he added. The General Manager also said that they want to inform people that about the product they deal with are only original ones as they have direct deal with Samsung Company.
There were 12 girls who came for the audition but only six were selected for the final contest considering the time.
Dechen Pelden Norbu was the winner of the contest and she was awarded silver crown with a logo of the company and a cash prize of Nu. 15,000 with gift hamper and phone which worth Nu.10, 000.
Singay Bidha was the runners-up; she was awarded with the cash price of Nu. 8000 with gift hamper and phone which worth Nu. 16,000.
Dechen Zam is the one of the contestant of Beauty Pageant; she was the second runners up and she won the miss beautiful eyes. Dechen added, winning is not important but participation is the most. The main aim of participating in Beauty Pageant is to be a role model of youths especially to the students of ILCS Taktse college . The title of Miss beautiful eyes is unexpected but she feels she achieved the biggest goal in her life. Dechen is proud to say, she is one of the Bhutanese citizen to promote culture and traditions too.
