Bhutan Times - - Editorial -

Thousand throng the Chamlingmethang stadium in the wee hours of the 11th November to celebrate the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. People from all walks of life gather to pay their homage to the Great King who has done so much and have kept nothing for himself.

The stadium was packed to its capacity and people came as early as 3 am in the morning to get the best seats. After the full capacity of the stadium, people were accommodated in the football field which becomes full within no time. With the chilly winter weather it was not easy for the older and the younger ones to make to the stadium on time.

The stadium was well decorated with banners, flowers and balloons. The weather was very perfect to celebrate the birthday of the father of the nation. There was serene in the air and the laughter and the giggles that filled the air as people make their way to the stadium.

With the arrival of the white horse at the Changlingmethang stadium which leads the Chipdrel ceremony people glued their eyes to the procession just to have the glimpse of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. A Dharma Raj as what His Majesty the king defines our Fourth King.

As His Majesty the King addressed the nation there was calmness in the stadium as people listen to him. The words from the King were as heavy as the gold and too precious to be discarded. During the speech His Majesty shared the vision our Fourth Druk Gyalpo , his achievements and his love the country and the people. The scarifies he made is immense and as remarked the deeds the fourth Druk Gyalpo is like an ocean, too vast to narrate.

The celebration become more meaningful as His Majesty the King announced about the birth of a baby Prince in Losar next year. People from the crowd applauded as soon as the announcement was made and tears ran as the news feel into the ears. The news of the new Royal Prince was so befitting on the occasion of the celebration of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The past, present and the future of Bhutan was together and as said it was all due to the good luck and fortune of the Bhutanese people. The Bhutanese people have now no reason to worry and now Bhutan is safe.

With His Majesty’s Fourth Druk Druk Gyalpo’s deep concern for his people it was amazing to see His Majesty moving from tents to tents enquiring about the people. People enjoyed his humor like our neighbor and feel accomplished to see the Great King

As people move home after the day as remarked by a group of Thai tourist during the celebration “It was dream comes true.”
