PM meets Ambassador of Germany
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay met H.E. Dr. Martin Ney, Ambassador of Germany who was accompanied by Dr. Gabriele Ney, Spouse of the Ambassador and Mrs. Carola Bruhn, Counselor for Political and Protocol Affairs, German Embassy in New Delhi last Wednesday. Expressing his appreciation on the Kingdom’s pristine environment and rich cultural heritage, the Ambassador said that he was very happy to observe many Germans visiting Bhutan. He said that such interaction between the people of the two nations would only strengthen the already existing congenial relations. The two leaders also shared their concerns on global threats like poverty, climate change, terrorism and the need to come together in the face of dire occurrences. Lyonchhen fondly recollected meeting Chancellor Angela Merkel, during the UN SDGs summit held in New York City a few weeks ago. The Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to convey his reassurances and appreciation to the Chancellor in all her endeavors. The Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador for Germany’s assistance to Bhutan through the EU and requested Germany to explore possibilities of engagement in sectors that would accelerate Bhutan’s socio-economic development.
