Vision of Green Gelegphu, “Tshering Norbu an aspirant Thrompon candidate
Infrastructure development, waste management and town planning are some of the concerns of Tshering Norbu, Gelephu Thrompon candidate from Trashiling Demkhong.
The candidate has B. Sce. Honours Computer Science from Sherubtse College, Kanglung. He worked as ICT Officer at Zhemgang dzongkhag followed by Project Manager and executive director at M/s Norgay Construction Pvt. Ltd and M/s KN Construction Pvt. Ltd, Geleoghu respectively.
As per Tshering, the construction of fresh roads in the extended area of the town and resurfacing the roads which needs serious follow ups will be one of the major issues that he will be looking into.
“Continuous assessment and monitoring system shall be established to manage the set up and maintenance of street lights in our Throm.” Said Tshering.
Further, footpath for the pedestrians and students, and a separate cycling track will be given the paramount importance.
Tshering also said a strict monitoring will be focussed for quality internal drainage system as Gelepghu has been affected by heavy flood especially in Aipole and Sheytekhari during monsoon season which poses a great threat to human life and fertile agricultural land.
As per him, though Gelegphu hasn’t faced waste management till date people should not be too considerate and relax producing waste. “We must learn from our very home to reduce waste and proper disposal. We need to sensitize the consumers on the importance of waste management after all it needs to be collectively addressed.”
He also mentioned that “for now we see waste collection only in Local Area Plan 1(LAP1) and Local Area Plan 2(LAP2) of the Throm which needs to be increased to cover larger area of the town and the frequency of collection shall be increased to literally manage waste and further ‘Green’ our Gelegphu Throm. It can be a good idea if the waste management is outsourced in future.”
“The town planning at times seems hampered due to lack of advocacy or lack of information to fellow people of Gelegphu Throm in involving them for developmental progress.” He mentioned.
Moreover may be due to lack of technical expertise the developmental move of Gelegphu town seems bit slow “Therefore, it is my personal urge to strategically structure the developmental procedure with best expertise to speed up the progress of a ‘model town,” he added.
