Handing Taking of 29 Ambulances from JICA Grant by Ministry of Health
To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Japan and the kingdom of Bhutan, Ministry of Health receives 29 Ambulances worth of 1,45,9216.47 USD, excluding the sale and green tax, from the Government and people of Japan through JICA grant. The function will be held on 28th March 2016 at the Clock tower, Thimphu Bhutan.
The ministry of Heath offers sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for their generous support. It is more befitting to mark the occasion as Bhutan is rejoicing the birth of Gyalsey symbolizing the continuity of the sacred legacy of the Wangchuck Dynasty.
Japanese assistance to Bhutan has increased and diversified into multi- sectoral covering agriculture, education, roads, bridges, health, energy, restoration and construction of irrigation system. The Govern- ment of Japan’s contribution has been substantial in supporting Bhutan in terms of technologies, capacity building, volunteers and other resources. Japan continues to play a major role in the socio – economic development of Bhutan.
As need existed to improve referral system, medical emergency services and timely evacuation of patients, which required good ambulances, preferably a Toyota Land – cruiser with four – wheel drive, fuel- efficient and equipped with essential items. Japan has been very considerate, and supported Ministry of Health with 55ambulances in two phases of new ambulance replacement project (2011 and 2016 ). Today, in total we have 126 ambulances attached to health facilities across the country making accessible to people- in – need.
As Ministry of Health envisage of bettering medical facilities by providing, prompt and efficient Emergency medical services, ambulance is go- ing to have a far-reaching effect in materializing the objective of quality health services which remains the priority for the ministry.
As the countries commemorate 30 years of bilateral relation, the Royal Government and people of Bhutan once again offer our heartfelt gratitude to Government and people of Japan for their continued support and cooperation. It is also our sincere hope and prayer that relations between Bhutan Japan would be further cemented in eons.
