Today marks the 30 years of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Japan. To celebrate the event Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay met with Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang last Monday. Thanking the Ambassador Lyonchhen said that although Japan is a super power she has always been there for Bhutan. Lyonchhen said that the Athang Bridge, which will be inaugurated tomorrow, is not just a bridge but a gift for the Bhutanese people from Japan. The Ambassador congratulated Lyonchhen for being listed in the top 50 World’s Greatest Leaders by the Fortune and informed Lyonchhen that Japan would continue to support Bhutan in its developmental activities. He also said that Japan would expand its corporation with Bhutan in the field of environment, sanitation, women empowerment etc. We want to extend our support in more renewal energy and make the country greener, H.E Kenji Hiramatsu added.
