The Fifth Meet­ing of the Chiefs of Pub­lic/Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion of SAARC mem­bers states

The Fifth Meet­ing of the Chiefs of Pub­lic/Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion of SAARC Mem­ber States is be­ing or­ga­nized by the Royal Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion and was held at the Ban­quet Hall in Thim­phu from 28-30 March, 2016. The in­au­gu­ral ses­sion of the Meet­ing on March 28, 2016 will be graced by Chief Jus­tice of Bhutan and other se­nior of­fi­cials from the civil ser­vice.

The meet­ing is an an­nual event hosted by SAARC mem­ber coun­tries. This is the first time Bhutan is host- ing the meet­ing of the Pub­lic/Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion. It will be at­tended by the Chair­per­sons and other se­nior del­e­gates of the Pub­lic/Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sions of the eight SAARC mem­ber coun­tries and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from SAARC Sec­re­tar­iat.

The main pur­pose of the meet­ing is to learn and share the best prac­tices in pub­lic/civil ser­vice ad­min­is­tra­tion and man­age­ment. The cen­tral theme of this year meet­ing is “Per­for­mance Man­age­ment for Pub­lic Sec­tor Ex­cel­lence”. Such a theme aligns with the broad re­forms ini­ti­ated across civil ser­vice agen­cies by the present Com­mis­sion. The Com­mis­sion will be shar­ing the new ini­tia­tives un­der­taken to im­prove the cur­rent sys­tem of manag­ing per­for­mance in the Royal Civil Ser­vice be­sides learn­ing from the ex­pe­ri­ences of other coun­tries.
