Jigme Wangchuck Power Training institute inaugurated
Lyonpo, Ngeema Sangay Tshempo, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources graced the consecration ceremony of the Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute as the chief guest at the Technical Training Institute-Dekiling, Sarpang last Wednesday. The institute was built with the total funding assistance of Nu.332 million from the Government of India (GOI). Further, the GOI has committed to support JWPTI with Nu.337 million during the 11FYP to augment the existing institute into a Power Training Institute. The institute was inaugurated by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, during his historic state visit to Bhutan in November 2014 and it became operational since August last year. Currently, there are 240 trainees undergoing vocational skills training in masonry, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, welding and upholstery. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief of Mission of Indian Embassy, Shri Bishwadip Dey and Mrs. Dey, Counsellor Shri Subrata Das, members of parliament, Dasho Dzongda, Lam Neten, Gups, representatives from the different agencies and the ministry.
