Teacher’s day cel­e­brated

The Prime Min­is­ter, Min­is­ter for Ed­u­ca­tion, Cab­i­net Min­is­ters, and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of par­ents, stu­dents and well wish­ers gath­ered at the Royal In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment (RIM) on 2nd May 2016 to pay trib­ute to the teach­ers across the na­tion as the na­tion cel­e­brated the birth an­niver­sary of the third Druk Gyalpo and teacher’s day. About 1400 teach­ers from var­i­ous Schools in Thim­phu were given a red car­pet wel­come fol­lowed by cul­tural pro­gramme by Mo­tion Pic­tures As­so­ci­a­tion. A lot­tery draw with an ar­ray of gifts for teach­ers, spon­sored by var­i­ous pri­vate in­di­vid­u­als and com­pa­nies was held. The Prime Min­is­ter thanked the teach­ers for their self­less ser­vice to ed­u­cate the na­tion and de­clared 2016 as the “Teacher Pro­fes­sional Devel­op­ment” Year to fast for­ward the pro­gramme on up-scal­ing teacher com­pe­ten­cies to im­prove the qual­ity of Ed­u­ca­tion.
