Ministers visit the Kilkhorthang water reservoir construction sites
May 1, 2016: The Kilkhorthang water reservoir construction in Rubesa Gewog was visited by the Minister of Health and Minister of Agriculture and Forests. The initial investment was Nu. 460,049 and the Funding Agency was the College of Natural Resources through the Climate Change Resilient and Livelihood Program (ICIMOD) and implemented by Geog Administration of Rubesa Gewog, Wangdue. The beneficiaries include 45 Households of Rubesa, Ruchekha and Rumena villages. The area to be catered to by the reservoir is approximately 80 acres and the water source for the reservoir is the Tekhachhu. The reservoir can hold 250,000 litres of water. The Ministers during the site visit recommended that the fence around the reservoir should be supported and site development works carried out. At present under the CNR/ICIMOD funding 2 water harvesting reservoir constructions are being carried out with the works about to complete in Bjena (Khotokha) and Rubesa (Kilkhorthang) while 1 water harvesting reservoir under RGOB funding is to be constructed at Rubesa (Zamding village).
