Min­is­ters visit the Kilkhorthang wa­ter reser­voir con­struc­tion sites

May 1, 2016: The Kilkhorthang wa­ter reser­voir con­struc­tion in Rubesa Ge­wog was vis­ited by the Min­is­ter of Health and Min­is­ter of Agri­cul­ture and Forests. The ini­tial in­vest­ment was Nu. 460,049 and the Fund­ing Agency was the Col­lege of Nat­u­ral Re­sources through the Cli­mate Change Re­silient and Liveli­hood Pro­gram (ICIMOD) and im­ple­mented by Geog Ad­min­is­tra­tion of Rubesa Ge­wog, Wang­due. The ben­e­fi­cia­ries in­clude 45 House­holds of Rubesa, Ruchekha and Ru­mena vil­lages. The area to be catered to by the reser­voir is ap­prox­i­mately 80 acres and the wa­ter source for the reser­voir is the Tekhachhu. The reser­voir can hold 250,000 litres of wa­ter. The Min­is­ters dur­ing the site visit rec­om­mended that the fence around the reser­voir should be sup­ported and site devel­op­ment works car­ried out. At present un­der the CNR/ICIMOD fund­ing 2 wa­ter har­vest­ing reser­voir con­struc­tions are be­ing car­ried out with the works about to com­plete in Bjena (Kho­tokha) and Rubesa (Kilkhorthang) while 1 wa­ter har­vest­ing reser­voir un­der RGOB fund­ing is to be con­structed at Rubesa (Zamd­ing vil­lage).
