The 2nd In­ter­na­tional Taek­wondo Championship ends to­day

The 2nd in­ter­na­tional Taek­wondo championship and 1st in­ter­na­tional Poom­sae (Taek­wondo) Championship which starts from May 20 and will end to­day in swim­ming pool sports com­plex at Thim­phu. The three days tour­na­ment was or­ga­nized by Thim­phu Taek­wondo Club and sanc­tioned by Bhutan Taek­wondo Fed­er­a­tion. The par­tic­i­pants from neigh­bor­ing In­dia, Nepal, Arunachal Pradesh and Korea ar­rived on 19th May for the com­pe­ti­tion. The first day was for poom­sae and the next two days is for the tour­na­ment. The prizes for the win­ners of the tour­na­ment will be awarded to­day.

Bhutan Taek­wondo Fed­er­a­tion was started in 1985 for young peo­ple to up­hold cor­rect moral val­ues needed in their prac­ti­cal life. Taek­wondo is the most ap­pro­pri­ate sport that can be well in­cor­po­rate in pur­suit to Gross Na­tional Hap­pi­ness and it teaches in-depth Bud­dhist val­ues that will change the mind­set of the youths and make them pro­duc­tive cit­i­zens.
