The Chairperson of the Women, Children and Youth Committee Karma Dorji and member of the parliament from Drukjeygang Tseza of Dagana presented its report on the implementation of resolution of the National Assembly passed during the 5th and 6th sessions of the 2nd Parliament. The committee reported implementation status on 5 items of resolutions and made five recommendations to the house for approval. There was long deliberation mainly centered on the issues concerning the impact of 6 months maternity leave and its implementation across corporate and private sectors.

Finally the house endorsed only the recommendation on the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources to coordinate with the private sectors and corporations in creating awareness and in finding win-win pathways in implementing 6 months maternity leave rule in the private businesses.

The house was adjourned with the Speaker, on behalf of the National Assembly, expressing his gratitude to the 100 women at Takila who participated in the tree plantation of 49,718 trees today on this very auspicious day of coronation of Drukgyel Zhipa.
