HRH Princess Chimi in­au­gu­rates Vo­ca­tional Skills De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre

5th June 2016: Her Royal High­ness Princess Chimi Yang­zom Wangchuck in­au­gu­rated the Vo­ca­tional Skills De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre for spouses of the Armed Force per­son­nel, at Dechen­chol­ing. Their Royal High­nesses the Princesses Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, Dechen Yang­zom Wangchuck, and Ke­sang Cho­den Wangchuck graced the in­au­gu­ra­tion. The Prime Min­is­ter and se­nior gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials were also present.

The Vo­ca­tional Skills De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre was built by Project HOPE. Project HOPE, ini­ti­ated by His Majesty The King, works for the wel­fare of the armed force per­son­nel and their fam­i­lies.

The mul­ti­pur­pose struc- tures have a tai­lor­ing unit, bak­ing and cook­ing unit, and spa­ces for Non For­mal Ed­u­ca­tion classes and tu­to­ri­als for the chil­dren. The spouses of the armed force per­son­nel re­ceived train­ings in tai­lor­ing, bak­ing, cook­ing, and hair­dress­ing with the sup­port of Project HOPE. The Project aims to con­ducts a to­tal of 66 more such train­ings, and sup­port the spouses of armed force per­son­nel to en­hance their liveli­hoods.

Mul­ti­pur­pose halls sim­i­lar to the one in­au­gu­rated today have also been built at the Royal Bhutan Po­lice Head­quar­ters in Thim­phu and RBA Wing IX at Lodrai in Gele­phu. Af­ter as­sess­ing the ex­pe­ri­ence and out­come of the struc­tures, three more will be de­vel­oped at Sip­soo, Damthang, and De­wathang.
