Am­bas­sador presents her Let­ters of Cre­dence to Di­rec­tor-Gen­eral of the Or­ga­ni­za­tion for the Pro­hi­bi­tion of Chem­i­cal Weapons (OPCW)

Kut­shab Pema Cho­den pre­sented her Let­ters of Cre­dence to H.E.Mr. Ah­met Uzumcu, Di­rec­tor-Gen­eral of the Or­ga­ni­za­tion for the Pro­hi­bi­tion of Chem­i­cal Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague on Wed­nes­day 6th July 2016 ac­cred­it­ing her as the Per­ma­nent Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Bhutan to the OPCW. The Con­ven­tion on the Pro­hi­bi­tion of the De­vel­op­ment, Pro­duc­tion, Stock­pil­ing and Use of Chem­i­cal Weapons and on their De­struc­tion, com­monly known as the Chem­i­cal Weapons con­ven­tion (CWC) is an arms control agree­ment which out­laws the pro­duc­tion, stock­pil­ing and use of chem­i­cal weapons. The CWC en­tered into force on 29 April 1997 and has been rat­i­fied by 192 States Par­ties. Bhutan signed the Con­ven­tion on 24th April 1997 and rat­i­fied it on 18 Au­gust 2005.
