His Majesty grants Dhar to ap­point gov­ern­ment sec­re­taries

His Majesty The King ap­pointed 7 gov­ern­ment sec­re­taries last Thurs­day. The new sec­re­taries who re­ceived Dhar from His Majesty at the Tashich- hod­zong are:

Dasho Karma W Pen­jor, the for­mer sec­re­tary of Drat­shang Lhentshog, who is the new sec­re­tary of In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Min­istry. He re­ceived the red scarf in April this year.

Sonam Wangchuk, the for­mer sec­re­tary of GNHC, who has been ap­pointed as the new sec­re­tary of the Labour and Hu­man Re­sources Min­istry.

Dr. Ugen Do­phu, for­mer Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Depart­ment of Med­i­cal Ser­vices, who takes over as the new Health Sec­re­tary.

Sonam Top­gay, for­mer Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Depart­ment of Law and Or­der, now the sec­re­tary of Min­istry of Home and Cul­tural Af­fairs.

Karma Yeshey, for­mer Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Depart­ment of School Ed­u­ca­tion, now the sec­re­tary of Ed­u­ca­tion Min­istry.

Nim Dorji, who re­turns to the Min­istry of Fi­nance, where he worked for 25 years, as the Sec­re­tary, af­ter serv­ing as Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Agri­cul­ture Depart­ment for a year. and,

Chen­cho Tsh­er­ing , the for­mer Paro Dzongda, now the Na­tional Coun­cil’s Sec­re­tary Gen­eral.

The Sec­re­taries to the Gov­ern­ment are ap­pointed by His Majesty The King, as de­scribed in the Con­sti­tu­tion (Ar­ti­cle 2.19): “on the rec­om­men­da­tion of the Prime Min­is­ter, who shall ob­tain nom­i­na­tions from the Royal Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion on the ba­sis of merit and se­nior­ity and in ac­cor­dance with other rel­e­vant rules and reg­u­la­tions.”
