6th Batch Lead­er­ship Train­ing for Scout con­cludes

The 6th lead­er­ship train­ing for 125 scouts or­ga­nized by the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion un­der the scouts and cul­ture ed­u­ca­tion di­vi­sion of the Depart­ment of Youth and Sports, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Of­fice of the Gyalpoi Zim­pon con­cluded on 23rd of July 2016.

The scouts in­cluded 62 boys and 63 girls of class XII from 19 Dzongkhags and 4 Thromdes. The Scouts par­tic­i­pated in in­ten­sive Lead­er­ship Train­ing for du­ra­tion of three weeks start­ing from 3rd July to 23rd July at Mil­i­tary Train­ing Cen­tre, Ten­chol­ing, Wang­duepho­drang.

The se­lec­tion of the par­tic­i­pants were firstly done at the school level and then at the Dzongkhag and Thromde level based on the cri­te­ria set by the Depart­ment. This pres­ti­gious train­ing has shown pos­i­tive im­pact on the youth chang­ing them into bet­ter in­di­vid­u­als per­tain­ing to time man­age­ment, im­prov­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tion, lead­er­ship and team build­ing ex­er­cises, crowd man­age­ment and strate­giz­ing, mak­ing de­ci­sions and solv­ing prob­lems.

The train­ing con­sisted of phys­i­cal ex­er­cises, im­promptu speeches, white river raft­ing, rap­pelling, camp fire and cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties, spir­i­tual visit and games com­pe­ti­tion amongst oth­ers.

The ses­sion also in­cluded ses­sions on scout- ing, life skills, disas­ter risk re­duc­tion and pre­pared­ness, for­est fire and its con­se­quences, fire fight­ing tech­niques, first aid and CPR, pa­tri­o­tism, loy­alty and “Thadamtse Lay Jumdey, spir­i­tu­al­ity & prac­ti­cal ap­pli­ca­tion in daily life, lead­er­ship skills, crowd con­trol & road safety, peer help­ing skills, re­pro­duc­tive health, jun­gle sur­vival tech­niques, and pi­o­neer­ing.

Fur­ther, among the 125 scouts who un­der­went this train­ing, five Scouts will be pro­vided schol­ar­ship for fur­ther stud­ies based on their per­for­mance at the Scout Lead­er­ship Camp and their aca­demic per­for­mance in the board ex­am­i­na­tions. The clos­ing cer­e­mony was graced by the for­mer Au­di­tor Gen­eral and the Mem­ber of Royal Re­search Coun­cil, Dasho Ugyen Tshe­wang on 23rd July, 2016
