6th Batch Leadership Training for Scout concludes
The 6th leadership training for 125 scouts organized by the Ministry of Education under the scouts and culture education division of the Department of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon concluded on 23rd of July 2016.
The scouts included 62 boys and 63 girls of class XII from 19 Dzongkhags and 4 Thromdes. The Scouts participated in intensive Leadership Training for duration of three weeks starting from 3rd July to 23rd July at Military Training Centre, Tencholing, Wangduephodrang.
The selection of the participants were firstly done at the school level and then at the Dzongkhag and Thromde level based on the criteria set by the Department. This prestigious training has shown positive impact on the youth changing them into better individuals pertaining to time management, improving communication, leadership and team building exercises, crowd management and strategizing, making decisions and solving problems.
The training consisted of physical exercises, impromptu speeches, white river rafting, rappelling, camp fire and cultural activities, spiritual visit and games competition amongst others.
The session also included sessions on scout- ing, life skills, disaster risk reduction and preparedness, forest fire and its consequences, fire fighting techniques, first aid and CPR, patriotism, loyalty and “Thadamtse Lay Jumdey, spirituality & practical application in daily life, leadership skills, crowd control & road safety, peer helping skills, reproductive health, jungle survival techniques, and pioneering.
Further, among the 125 scouts who underwent this training, five Scouts will be provided scholarship for further studies based on their performance at the Scout Leadership Camp and their academic performance in the board examinations. The closing ceremony was graced by the former Auditor General and the Member of Royal Research Council, Dasho Ugyen Tshewang on 23rd July, 2016
