Bhutan is a part of Bangladesh’s his­tory

Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay and Begum Tarana Halim, MP, State Min­is­ter, De­part­ment of Post and Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion of Bangladesh met at Gye­ly­ong Tshogkhang on 4 Au­gust.

Wel­com­ing Begum Tarana Halim to Bhutan Ly­onch­hen said that Her Ex­cel­lency is a role model for women em­pow­er­ment and poverty al­le­vi­a­tion. Con­vey­ing the best wishes of the Pres­i­dent, Prime Min­is­ter and peo­ple of Bangladesh, Her Ex­cel­lency shared that Bhutan is part of Bangladesh’s his- tory and that the stu­dent there read about Bhutan in their his­tory books. “Bhutan was the first coun­try to ex­tend friend­ship and rec­og­nize Bangladesh’s in­de­pen­dence,” she added.

The Min­is­ter said that she “ad­mire and look up to His Majesty the King” and the fact that His Majesty is “down to earth is hearth touch­ing” she added.

Re­fer­ring to the dam­ages caused by re­cent mon­soon, Her Ex­cel­lency said that she was “amazed at how His Majesty the King and the Prime Min­is­ter both rushed and man­aged the sit­u­a­tion.” To this Ly­onchen said that we are “blessed with the lead­er­ship of His Majesty the King”

Ly­onchen and Begum Tarana Halim dis­cussed on the wide range of sub­ject mat­ters in­clud­ing econ­omy, hy­dropower, In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy, trade, tourism, aviation and min­ing.
