Bhutan is a part of Bangladesh’s history
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay and Begum Tarana Halim, MP, State Minister, Department of Post and Telecommunication of Bangladesh met at Gyelyong Tshogkhang on 4 August.
Welcoming Begum Tarana Halim to Bhutan Lyonchhen said that Her Excellency is a role model for women empowerment and poverty alleviation. Conveying the best wishes of the President, Prime Minister and people of Bangladesh, Her Excellency shared that Bhutan is part of Bangladesh’s his- tory and that the student there read about Bhutan in their history books. “Bhutan was the first country to extend friendship and recognize Bangladesh’s independence,” she added.
The Minister said that she “admire and look up to His Majesty the King” and the fact that His Majesty is “down to earth is hearth touching” she added.
Referring to the damages caused by recent monsoon, Her Excellency said that she was “amazed at how His Majesty the King and the Prime Minister both rushed and managed the situation.” To this Lyonchen said that we are “blessed with the leadership of His Majesty the King”
Lyonchen and Begum Tarana Halim discussed on the wide range of subject matters including economy, hydropower, Information Technology, trade, tourism, aviation and mining.
