HM Grants Dhar to Sec­re­taries, RBA, RBG Of­fi­cers

17 Au­gust 2016, Tashich­hod­zong: His Majesty The King ap­pointed 4 sec­re­taries and pro­moted 20 Armed Force of­fi­cers.

Rinzin Dorji, for­merly the di­rec­tor gen­eral of the Con­struc­tion Devel­op­ment Board, was ap­pointed as the sec­re­tary of the min­istry of agricul- ture and forests.

Karma Tsh­er­ing Nam­gyal, for­merly the con­sul gen­eral at the Royal Bhutan Con­sulate in Kolkata, was ap­pointed the sec­re­tary of Drat­shang Lhentshog.

Thin­ley Nam­gyel, the for­mer di­rec­tor of the Gross National Hap­pi­ness Com­mis­sion was ap­pointed as the Com­mis­sion’s sec­re­tary.

Chen­cho Norbu, the for­mer di­rec­tor gen­eral of the de­part­ment of forests and park ser­vices in the min­istry of agri­cul­ture and forests, was ap­pointed as the sec­re­tary of the National En­vi­ron­ment Com­mis­sion.

The Sec­re­taries to the Government are ap­pointed by His Majesty The King, in ac­cor­dance with Ar­ti­cle 2.19 of the Con­sti­tu­tion, on the rec­om­men­da­tion of the Prime Min­is­ter, who shall ob­tain nom­i­na­tions from the Royal Civil Ser­vice Com­mis­sion on the ba­sis of merit and se­nior­ity and in ac­cor­dance with other rel­e­vant rules and reg­u­la­tions.

His Majesty also granted pro­mo­tions to 14 of­fi­cers from the Royal Bhutan Army and 6 offic- ers from the Royal Body Guard. The of­fi­cers have been pro­moted from the rank of Lt. Colonel to Colonel. Among the of­fi­cers who have been pro­moted, 6 are on dep­u­ta­tion to var­i­ous UN Peacekeeping Mis­sions around the world.

His Majesty The King is the Supreme Com­man­der- in- Cheif of the Armed Forces.
