The Royal Bhutan Police celebrated its 51 Police Raising Day on 1 September 2016 at Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) Headquarters in Thimphu.

This day was marked as a special occasion for the police fraternity because the Royal Bhutan Police had completed 51 years of service to the nation.

The first of September holds a special significance for the Police fraternity as the RBP was first established on 1 September 1965 with 555 personnel redeployed from Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) as the Bhutan Frontier Guards.

The police Raising Day is observed every year to commemorate the continued allegiance and unweaving dedication of the RBP to the Tsawasum.

On that day, the RBP fraternity offered all their wishes and prayers of gratitude to the Supreme Commander in Chief, His Majesty the King.

The occasion was graced by Chief Operations Officer of the RBA, Lt. General Batoo Tshering, as the Chief Guest. To commemorate the occasion, the RBP presented trophies and cash awards to the winners of the Crime Reduction Competi- tion in recognition of the relentless effort to keep the community safe.

This year, the first trophy with a cash prize of Nu.50,000 was awarded to Division Vll, Trongsa. And the second prize of Nu 30,000 was awarded to division XII Wangdue Phodrang, and division IV Samtse won the third price of Nu. 20,000.

The RBP made seven raising day pledges to rededicate its commitment to serve and protect the community. They are to enhance public friendly policing, improve police response time, enhance crime prevention and detection, intensify operations to curtail drug demand and supply, strengthen the road safety and traffic law enforcement and corruption free police organization.
