Ground break­ing cer­e­mony for Taba LAP

The ground break­ing cer­e­mony of con­struc­tion of ur­ban in­fra­struc­ture for lower Taba (LAP) in Thim­phu took place on 16th Sept 2016. In­fra­struc­ture such as road and drainage, wa­ter sup­ply, sew­er­age Net-Work Sys­tem, elec­tric­ity, com­mu­ni­ca­tion fa­cil­i­ties will be put in place in the next 30 months. Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay spoke about the need to be fu­tur­is­tic while plan­ning. “Taba has the op­por­tu­nity to be built as an ex­em­plary yanla throm and if we all work to­gether we can ful­fill His Majesty the King’s as­pi­ra­tions” Ly­onch­hen added. Ly­onch­hen also in­formed the gath­er­ing that he will per­son­ally mon­i­tor the work. The work will be car­ried out by a Ja­panese com­pany called Marushin Shi­taka Con­struc­tion Lim­ited and is be­ing funded by the World Bank. Feel­ing nos­tal­gic Ly­onch­hen said that both Fi­nance Min­is­ter Nam­gay Dorji and Ly­onch­hen him­self had played in th­ese empty fields when they were small and said that Taba was “bet­ter” then. But be­cause of chang­ing time, devel­op­ment is needed, Ly­onch­hen added.
