Bhutan Ambassador presents letter of credentials to the Governor General of Australia
Ambassador Tshewang C. Dorji presented his credentials to the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC ( Retd.), accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Commonwealth of Australia on 28th September 2016.
Following the credential ceremony, the Governor- General congratulated Ambassador Tshewang C. Dorji on his appointment. Ambassador Tshewang C. Dorji conveyed the warm greeting of Their Majesties The King and Queen to the Governor General. He also expressed the deep appreciation of the Royal Government for the assistance received in the areas of education, agriculture and human resource development. During the visit, the Ambassador met with senior government officials of the Australia Government in Canber- ra and Sydney and held discussions to further deepen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Tsewang C. Dorji also visited the University of Canberra and the Australian National University, and hosted a dinner for the executive members of the Bhutanese Association in Canberra.
Formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Australia was established on 14th September 2002. Ambassador Tshewang C. Dorji is Bhutan’s resident Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Australia, Singapore and Myanmar.
