DPT introduces its North Thimphu candidate
On 3rd October, 2016 Druk Phuensum Tshogpa introduced Kezang Wangmo as the North-Thimphu candidate for the upcoming by-election.
A 26years old Kezang Wangmo has been selected as North-Thimphu candidate after Chencho Nidup, the former candidate withdrew from contesting for the by-election two weeks before. Kezang Wangmo has a bachelor degree in English and Environmental studies from Royal Thimphu College. After her graduation in 2013, she has been working in a private firm in Nanglam. Her father is from Bumthang and mother is from Tashiyangtse.
Kezang Wangmo said, “It is my desire to serve Tsa Wa Sum,and I want to become a example for youths and women.” I am interested in politics added Kezang Wangmo.
The opposition leader (OL) Dr. Pema Gyamtsho said that there are only few women in the parliament so, it is important to give equal opportunity to women. “She is bold and wise” added the OL. Currently there is only four women rep- resentative in National Assembly, from which only one belongs to Druk Phuensum Tshogpa.
Kezang Wangmo will be contesting against Tshering,a 33 years old candidate from People’s Democratic Party. The by-election for the North-Thimphu constituency will be held on 4th of November as per the announcement made by Election Commission of Bhutan dated 7th of October 2016..
For the past two consecutive years Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s candidate has been winning from North-Thimphu constituency .The party have full confident to win and we have better candidate, said Dr. Pema Jamtsho.
The North-Thimphu National Assembly Demkhong has been vacant since 11th August 2016, after the resignation of the former MP Kinga Tshering to pursue his master degree.
