Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck on high level advocacy tour of central Bhutan
Her Majesty The Gyalyum Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador commenced her high level advocacy tour programme to Bumthang, Trongsa & Zhemgang Dzongkhags from 13 – 22 October 2016.
The visit is a continuation of Her Majesty’s advocacy efforts to promote awareness on priority public health issues like safe motherhood, adult and adolescent reproductive health, substance abuse, STD/ HIV/ AIDS and suicide prevention. The advocacy will target local government leaders, schools, institutions, vulnerable groups, project sites, religious communities, local communities and armed forces.
Her Majesty will also meet with Multi- sect oral Task Force ( MSTFMoH) and Community Based Support System ( CBSS – RENEW)) in the Dzongkhags.
The main objective of Her Majesty’s tour is to create awareness on priority public health & social issues relating to HIV/ AIDS and STDs, sui- cide prevention, mental health issues including alcohol and substance abuse, adolescent related issues and mother and child health issues
The target audiences are the local government leaders, public – business and local, communities, religious communities, MSTF and CBSS members, schools ( high school students of class 10- 12), armed forces and institutions.
Her Majesty will be accompanied by officials from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, RENEW Secretariat, NCWC & LHAKSAM.
Yesterday in the honor of His Majesty The Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck visited several temples in Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Her Majesty offered butter lamps and prayers for the well being of the Royal Family and people of Thailand.
