Her Majesty Gya­lyum San­gay Cho­den Wangchuck on high level ad­vo­cacy tour of cen­tral Bhutan

Her Majesty The Gya­lyum Ashi San­gay Cho­den Wangchuck, UNFPA Good­will Am­bas­sador com­menced her high level ad­vo­cacy tour pro­gramme to Bumthang, Trongsa & Zhem­gang Dzongkhags from 13 – 22 Oc­to­ber 2016.

The visit is a con­tin­u­a­tion of Her Majesty’s ad­vo­cacy ef­forts to pro­mote aware­ness on pri­or­ity pub­lic health is­sues like safe moth­er­hood, adult and ado­les­cent re­pro­duc­tive health, sub­stance abuse, STD/ HIV/ AIDS and sui­cide preven­tion. The ad­vo­cacy will tar­get lo­cal govern­ment lead­ers, schools, in­sti­tu­tions, vul­ner­a­ble groups, project sites, re­li­gious com­mu­ni­ties, lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties and armed forces.

Her Majesty will also meet with Multi- sect oral Task Force ( MSTFMoH) and Com­mu­nity Based Sup­port Sys­tem ( CBSS – RE­NEW)) in the Dzongkhags.

The main ob­jec­tive of Her Majesty’s tour is to cre­ate aware­ness on pri­or­ity pub­lic health & so­cial is­sues re­lat­ing to HIV/ AIDS and STDs, sui- cide preven­tion, men­tal health is­sues in­clud­ing al­co­hol and sub­stance abuse, ado­les­cent re­lated is­sues and mother and child health is­sues

The tar­get au­di­ences are the lo­cal govern­ment lead­ers, pub­lic – busi­ness and lo­cal, com­mu­ni­ties, re­li­gious com­mu­ni­ties, MSTF and CBSS mem­bers, schools ( high school stu­dents of class 10- 12), armed forces and in­sti­tu­tions.

Her Majesty will be ac­com­pa­nied by of­fi­cials from Min­istry of Health, Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, RE­NEW Sec­re­tariat, NCWC & LHAKSAM.

Yes­ter­day in the honor of His Majesty The Late King Bhu­mi­bol Adulyadej of Thai­land, Her Majesty Gya­lyum San­gay Cho­den Wangchuck vis­ited sev­eral tem­ples in Bumthang, the spir­i­tual heart­land of Bhutan. Her Majesty of­fered but­ter lamps and prayers for the well be­ing of the Royal Fam­ily and peo­ple of Thai­land.
