Bhutan on 10 October won 3-1 against Bangladesh in the second leg of AFC Asian Cup 2019. Bhutan’s team was led by German Coach Torsten Soittler.

The match started at 6 pm sharp to the roaring sheers and sounds of drums and whistles from the Bhutanese fans. Bhutan’s national flag was seen being waved in the middle of the crowd when Bhutan’s defender Jigme Tshering Dorji scored the first goal against Bangladesh.

Dendrup Gyelsthen, 21, said, he was confident to take over, adding that Bangladesh’s low level of confidence was an additional opportunity to gain high level of positive attitude on the Bhutanese side. He said whatever the situation or condition, “winning” is important during such a competition.

The second goal against Bangladesh came within half an hour of the first goal and that gave the Bhutanese side a new boost of energy and confidence.

Before the match started, Belgium Coach to Bangladesh said because of the weather his players would face difficulties. He added that it would have been better if there was more than a week for the players to adapt to the new weather condition.

Kinley, 24, came to watch the match all the way from Paro. He said he wasn’t satisfied with live broadcast by Bhutan Broadcasting Service. He said he was going back home fully satisfied.

Bhutan now moves into the next round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
